Karaikal Region - Power Scenario & Availability

The present power demand of the Union Territory including that of the four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam is 465 MW during peak period. There is no power generation in the Union Territory except that a 32.5 MW Gas based Power Plant operated by the Pondicherry Power Corporation Limited. The demand is normally being met from the power allocation from Central Generating Stations (CGS), drawal of power from neighbouring state Electricity Boards and the Gas Power Plant of Pondicherry Power Corporation Limited. At present there is no shortage in meeting the requirements of the present demand in any of the four regions.
