TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUPPLY OF ELECTRICITY

The rules and Conditions for sale of electricity was first published in the Gazette No.31 dated 1-8-1961 which contained only minimum directions and guidelines. With the passage of more than three decades, it has become absolutely necessary that the same should be recast and new set of terms and conditions prepared especially in view of the vast changes that have taken place subsequently. The Government have accordingly constituted a committee under the Chairmanship of the Secretary to Government (Power) in G.O.Ms. No.36 dated 25.10.90 to review the existing terms and conditions of power supply and suggest modifications and additions.

This new set of terms and conditions is published mainly with a view to improving the service to the consumers. It is hoped that with the publication of this new terms and conditions, the consumers and public will be made aware of the various procedures and regulations adopted by the Department in providing service to the public.

P Irisappan, Superintending Engineer, for their valuable technical assistance and supply of technical data and sharing their expertise without which the task of the committee could not have been accomplshed successfully.

Suggestions for further improvement to the terms and conditions of the supply of electricity are welcome.
